The Car Rental Association of Switzerland represents the largest Swiss car rental companies as an important authority. The association gives advice about recent developments and laws.

The Car Rental Association of Switzerland

Founded in 1947, the association unites about 40 members and therefore represents about 75% of the Swiss car rental market. Thus, not only regional providers but also international car hirers are involved. The Car Rental Association of Switzerland is the only car rental association in Europe. Once a year, the largest car renters like Avis, Sixt and Hertz meet up to discuss recent developments in the car rental industry.
All vehicle categories are covered. Passenger cars, utility vehicles, SUVs, classic cars as well as luxury cars. This is partially thanks to the membership of Edel & Stark. Since 2015, we are a member of the AVS and therefore profit from its services.

Purpose and objectives of the Car Rental Association of Switzerland

Agreements on federal level benefit all members. Additionally, they profit from assistance with questions as well as counseling. Furthermore, the Car Rental Association of Switzerland does professional public relations. It continually informs about current economic and technological development. They also observe and comment relevant legislation processes and jurisdiction.

In 2016, record sales could be achieved. Sales increased by 5,2% to 365,4 million. The number of rentals (+ 4,4) as well as rental days (+ 1,8%) increased. All things considered, car rentals prove to be an attractive mobility alternative.
