About Lamborghini

Brand Lamborghini and History

Lamborghini as a sports car brand belongs to the rather younger generation of car manufacturers. It was founded only after the second world war in 1948 in Cento as Ferruccio Lamborghini when remaining military vehicles from the Second World War were used to build tractors. In 1963 Feruccio Lamborghini founded Automobili Lamborghini and chose the legendary bull Murciélago as his brand symbol. Legend has it that Ferruccio Lamborghini owned a Ferrari, which often caused him problems. Therefore he is said to have complained to Enzo Ferrari that better cars should be built. As Enzo was not willing to talk to him, Ferruccio Lamborghini wanted to build a better car himself and the start of the Lamborghini supercar dynasty began.

Lamborghini started with the first prototype in 1963, the Lamborghini 350 GTV, and in the following years produced iconic and outstanding cars like the Lamborghini Miura, the Lamborghini Countach or today's current models Lamborghini Huracan or the Aventador. In 1986, as a contract order from the American army, Lamborghini built the LM002, which was Lamborghini's first SUV. Today, the Lamborghini Urus, the brand’s first street-legal SUV, breaks all records and is one of the best-selling Lamborghini models.

In 1998, Audi AG took over Lamborghini as its new owner. Thus, Lamborghini became part of the Volkswagen Group and the Lamborghini Gallardo became Lamborghini's best-selling sports car from 2003 to 2013 under their leadership, with over 10,000 pieces produced.

Today, Lamborghini is one of the absolute leaders in supercar production and marketing.
